About Maritime Aquarium

Easy access from I-95 or Metro North Railroad, convenient covered parking next door, warm and spacious with two on-site cafes, gift shop and a 4D Theater, the Maritime Aquarium is a most excellent family outing, date or solo visit!

The marine population we exhibit includes varieties of sharks, big and small, stingrays, harbor seals, sea turtles, game fish, jellies, crabs, lobsters, mollusks and more. We also exhibit tropical travelers that follow the Gulf Stream north to our waters. Plus we have some other fun animals, from tamarins to meerkats. We offer lots of touch experiences including stingrays, sharks, jellyfish and intertidal animals.

Very educational and fun! Everyone here was so wonderful. Bruce at the sturgeon tank had some great stories to share, and Thomas at the puffin talk answered all my questions eagerly (despite me having quite a few lol). Very clean establishment. Would Recommend

One of the best aquariums I've been to. It was very kid friendly (with many places to climb so they can see the animals up close), and the animals seem truely content (very little pacing and tons of interaction with the public). I'm not usually a fan of touch tanks, but they have so many and the animals have plenty of room to move away/seem unbothered. Along with that, they have many hand washing stations and the staff are very knowledgeable (but your littler ones may need a change of shirt, later). The food seems decent and the cafe was very quiet and clean.

Awesome place! Clean atmosphere. Friendly and engaging staff. Brought back memories of when I brought my older kids here when they were 3yrs old. Lol I had a great time though with being a chaperone today.

The Maritime Aquarium of Norwalk is a fantastic and fun place to visit, especially for families. One of the highlights is the touch tanks where you can actually pet the stingrays and jellyfish—a really unique experience! The jellyfish exhibits are mesmerizing to watch, and there’s a beautiful room surrounded by sea species, featuring a giant sea turtle and incredible lighting that creates a great atmosphere. While it’s a bit pricey at nearly $40 for a full day, you can easily see everything in about 1 to 2 hours. They have a nice cafe on-site for coffee and snacks if you need a break. For parking, there is a paid garage nearby, and it's also a short walk from the beautiful Oyster Shell Park. Overall, a solid 4-star experience due to the cost, but definitely worth it for the hands-on fun!

We finally made it here after years of defaulting to Mystic, and now I’m mad at myself for not trying this sooner. Total hidden gem for us. First win.... most of it is indoors. Huge deal when you live in New England and never know if it’s going to rain, snow, or randomly be 97 degrees and humid. I’ll take climate control any day. The jellyfish tanks are awesome. Hypnotizing. I could’ve stood there forever if my toddler didn’t have other plans. And there are way more touch tanks than I expected -rays, mystery critters, all the poking and splashing that keeps kids happy. Place was clean, staff was friendly, stroller was easy to push around, and it’s the perfect size... enough to see without feeling like you’re on a 12-hour field trip. We’ve only gone once so far, but this instantly got added to our “rainy day / random day off” list.
